About the Imagery:
Azreal, the Angel of Death, prays to God to be told of her next “victim”. Who will it be & for which side will they be fighting for? Azreal doesn’t choose sides; she shows no prejudice.
Backstory of creation:
Azreal was created as part of a past series entitled, Holy War in which I took a deep dive into what it truly means to be in a “Holy War” and how can that be justified? I searched the Bible for verses explaining this to me, and plucked them from the book at which time they were crumpled, tea stained in the oven for an aged effect & then sewn onto the hood of a velvet cloak I had created.
This beautiful artwork is printed on the absolute best quality photo paper! Red River Ultra Pro Satin photo paper is slightly glossy with a lightly textured surface that breaks up reflections and minimizes fingerprints – just the right amount of texture to enhance your prints without being distracting. A brilliant, bold white, it is particularly good at reproducing deep blacks and higher contrast.

Custom Mahogany Panel. This original, custom piece of artwork has been proofed, dated & signed by the the artist. This edition is signed by the artist as her former identity of Jennifer Gleason. All future editions will be signed as Yuli Anun and will be created on birch/poplar art panels.

Azreal began its creation with the sewing of the scarlet cloak she wears as well as the tea stained Bible pages that adorn her cloak. She then embarked on her journey as a compilation of photographs and textures artfully blended together through digital processes to create the actual imagery. Once the digital image was complete, it was brilliantly transformed into an archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Matte Paper with an Ultrasmooth finish 308gsm weight. The print was coated with a print shield protectant and dry-mounted onto a one of a kind mahogany custom art panel. The edges of the print were then sanded and bevelled to give a slight white border and to marry the print to the panel. Once the adhesive had cured completely, the MAGIC began! Yuli then added life & movement to the imagery by creating brushstrokes with acrylic gel medium. It was also during the hand embellishment process & the laying on of hands that Yuli infused healing heart frequencies from her heart into the art.
Each original is as unique as a fingerprint.
