Drought:
Drought is one of the images in my series entitled, Disasters of a Natural Being in which I relate human events and times of suffering to various natural disasters. Drought, Wildfire, Flood, Earthquake and Tornado are all of the natural disasters I have created to date… possibly more to come as I experience them in my lifetime.
Sometimes in life we go through various metaphorical natural disasters – here this girl is going through a severe drought. Withering away and drying up – perhaps stagnation of the spirit or you could view this drought literally as the aging process as we literally whither… there are many ways we experience a drought in our lives… spiritually, creatively, mentally, physically.

Much love and care went into creating & assembling this beautiful original piece of artwork!
Drought began its creation as a simple bald self-portrait photograph which then was artfully blended together through digital processes to create the cracking degrading & grungy effects that make her who she is. Once the digital image was complete, it was transformed into an archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Matte Paper with an Ultrasmooth finish 308gsm weight. The print was coated with a print shield protectant and dry-mounted onto a custom created poplar wood panel. The edges of the print were then sanded and bevelled to give a slight white border and to marry the print to the panel. Once the adhesive had cured completely, the MAGIC began! Yuli then added life & movement to the imagery by creating brushstrokes with acrylic gel medium. It was also during the hand embellishment process & the laying on of hands that Yuli infused healing heart frequencies from her heart into the art.
Each original is as unique as a fingerprint.
